Privacy

A small site with a small data footprint.

This portfolio exists to show my work and make it easy to contact me. It is not designed to follow you around the internet.

The short version

No advertising. No behavioural tracking. No mailing list. This site does not currently use analytics or set non-essential cookies. There is no contact form: selecting my email address opens your own email application.

Who is responsible

I am Martin Warner, the person responsible for this website and any personal information you choose to send me.

You can contact me at martin@martinwarner.dev.

Technical information

Like almost every website, the hosting infrastructure may process basic technical information when a page is requested. This can include your IP address, browser or device information, the requested page, and the date and time of the request.

This information is used only to deliver the site, maintain its security, investigate faults and prevent abuse. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable portfolio. Technical logs are retained only for as long as they are reasonably needed for those purposes or by the hosting provider.

The site is hosted using Cloudflare infrastructure, which may process this information on my behalf and may operate systems outside the UK under its applicable data-transfer safeguards.

Fonts and external services

This site currently loads its typefaces through Google Fonts. Your browser therefore makes a request to Google’s servers to download the relevant font files and stylesheet. That request necessarily includes technical information such as your IP address and browser details.

Google handles that information under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab). I do not receive a profile of individual visitors from Google Fonts.

Links to LinkedIn, clients and other external websites do not send you to those services until you choose to follow them. Their own privacy notices apply once you leave this site.

If you email me

If you contact me, I will receive the information contained in your message, normally including your name, email address, signature and anything else you choose to provide.

I use it to respond to you and, where relevant, discuss employment, freelance work or another professional enquiry. The legal basis will usually be my legitimate interest in corresponding with you or taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement.

I keep correspondence only for as long as it remains useful for the conversation, the resulting professional relationship, reasonable record-keeping or a legal obligation. I do not add email correspondents to a marketing list.

Sharing information

I do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by the providers that operate this website and my email service, or disclosed where I am legally required to do so. I do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict how it is used, or object to its use.

You can object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests. Email martin@martinwarner.dev if you want to exercise a right or ask a privacy question.

If I cannot resolve a concern, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab).

If the site changes

If I add analytics, a contact form, embedded media or another feature that changes how information is handled, I will update this page first. Where consent is required—for example, for non-essential analytics cookies—I will ask before enabling them.
